Customer Showcase: Kelly Klapstein

As our blog followers know, we enjoy sharing our customer’s work. One of our favorite parts of being an industry supplier is seeing what is created with the tools we sell. Back in 2015, customer Kelly Klapstein placed an order with us for Pentel Sign Pens with brush tips along with other supplies, and her journey into modern brush lettering began. We hope you enjoy meeting Kelly!

Meet Kelly Klapstein (AKA: Kelly Creates)

Hello everyone!

I am so happy to be invited to the Paper and Ink Arts blog today to share a little bit about myself and hopefully provide some creative inspiration for you and your pens and paper.

I’m Kelly Klapstein, a lettering artist, educator and writer, but many of you might know me as “Kelly Creates” online. I live in northern Canada with my family and dog Finn, where long cold winters allow me to practice calligraphy and explore my creativity with art and crafts. I am a Tombow Senior Brand Ambassador and also write and design for Creative Scrapbooker magazine. I’m happiest when traveling around the world teaching brush lettering workshops, helping others develop a passion for pens and creating beautiful letters.

I’m so thrilled to tell you that I have fulfilled a lifelong dream of being an author because I just finished writing an instructional book called The Art of Brush Lettering, which will be published in December 2017, and is now available for pre-orders online.  On Instagram, I enjoy sharing videos and photos of my lettering and calligraphy. You can also find lots of tips and techniques for brush lettering, which is my specialty, on my website  and YouTube channel.

Two years ago I picked up my first brush pen and a love of lettering was born! Since that day, I have developed my own style of calligraphy with both brush pens and watercolor, and started a small online business in conjunction with my website by teaching brush lettering workshops through sets of tracing guide worksheets I designed. Not only do I use these worksheets when I travel and teach classes, I also sell them online as digital downloads that you print at home, so that people all over the world can learn brush lettering without attending a workshop in person. If you’re interested in learning brush lettering with my worksheets, click HERE to visit my website.

I discovered Paper and Ink Arts when I first started learning lettering and was so excited to see their online store filled with everything I could want or need for my calligraphy practice. I purchased a set of Pentel Sign Brush tip pens, along with some dip pens, nibs and ink. The prompt customer service and quick delivery to Canada impressed me so much, and I knew I had found a wonderful, small business I could rely on to supply me with superior lettering products.

Someday I hope to travel to Nashville and visit the Paper and Ink Arts store…stock up on all things that are pens and inks…and maybe even teach a class!

I invite you to head over to Instagram this week to visit me where I am offering a wonderful Giveaway of Sakura Koi Coloring Brush Pens sponsored by the very generous people from Paper and Ink Arts.
